Artist's Description
This image is only the reproduction image.
The original is painted in artist oils on gesso primed New Zealand hardboard and mounted on chemically treated (for long life) New Zealand Macrocarpa timber support. On the original you will see the title made of self adhesive vinyl on perspex attached with hexagonal, stainless steel bathroom nuts and bolts. The oils are finished and protected with a gloss dammar varnish.

Inspired by seeing huge sunflower standing proud in a friends garden, I was challenged to photograph its wonder. For more impact I used a polarising filter on the lens. This enhanced a deeper blue of the sky and a cleaner richer brilliance in the yellow. The printed photo was so stunning I knew it needed painting in oil paints.
