THE STORY:

I have always been fascinated by fantails as creatures that generally bring with them a sense of acceptance and wonder. They fly close, they seem fearless and trusting, they are delicate, non-threatening and friendly and it's a pleasure to work with a creature so friendly. The truth be known, they come close because they know around our presence will be insects who we stir up as we walk. We herald a disturbance of insects for them to feed on. I will take their presence as a treasure of good will and as I created this series in illustration and photo art I have enjoyed the many moments of interaction they offered me.

I have tried to faithful convey what I was experiencing as I captured their antics in flight and habit and hopefully for you the viewer you will experience some of that personally in this work of art. Like you, the fantail has a purpose. It is intent and sees its desire to feed and without complaint, it works to achieve.

From his place near my studio, he will join you at home, in your office or on your launch this little creature will find its way into many hearts on interior walls from New York to London, Auckland to Sydney, Hong Kong to Kuwait and his message will bring delight to many.

MATERIALS:

Lead pencil on archival acid free water colour paper, framed in perspex mounted on brushed aluminium sign ply. The illustration is protected with matt UV archival varnish.
