THE STORY:
I was inspired by seeing a royalty free illustration drawn in 1879. I have always enjoyed illustrations from the masters of old and during my early years, I remember my mum's doodles while she was talking on the phone to friends. She had a note pad beside the old handset phone which she used to ring the exchange and then waited for a telephonist to plug our line into the line required. While waiting she doodled ink pen or pencil lines. Now that doesn’t seem that long ago and although there is a rapid increase in knowledge and technology some things do not change. Pencil illustration is one of those timeless, creative, story telling tools that I now use
If you are like me, I have researched books of medical illustrations, studied the human body, visited numerous temples, places of worship and crowded sporting complexes to observe the wonders of mankind living out their passions in life. When recently being in a house of worship I was watching uplifted hands toward heaven where the participant's inner selves where being reflected in worship toward a God who could not be seen with the natural eyes. It was evident they had a connection to the invisible and unashamedly so. When I realised what was happening in their spirit I had this idea that the God they worship made their skeleton and flesh to house the spirit in which they worshipped. The revelation of what I saw deserved to be drawn. The visible reflecting the invisible for which no amount of scepticism will change the reality of what is to those who have known the experience.
The amazing thing to me is that with my hands I have drawn this image and for any medical practitioner, or one who understands the body functions it really is a marvel beyond certain levels of comprehension. Mans opinions in a polling booth cannot change this fact. God made us in His image and likeness and placed us in a dirt body. If our body is broken he can fix it and anyone who has been fixed will want to raise their hands in praise to the one who knows better than us. Of that I am sure.
